From Unipolar world to Multipolar world

Do you remember when Vladimir Putin invited many world leaders to Russia`s annual Victory Day parade in Red Square on May 9, 2015? Do you remember that all the western leaders were boycotting that event because of the crisis in Ukraine?

Vladimir Putin said at that time that the U.S is trying to create a «unipolar world». Putin and Russia have used an address commemorating the 70th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany to accuse the U.S of attempting to dominate the world.

I wrote an article about it on June 3, 2015, and you can read that article here. Cuba`s Fidel Castro shares Putin`s worldview. He released a new book called «Cold War – A warning for a unipolar world» on September 1, 2003. Castro said; «To endure the global struggle between the superpowers is bad. To live under the total hegemony of one of them is worse».

That`s exactly what the war in Ukraine is about. A world order. World dominance. But Putin stopped this big dream, which means we will go from a Unipolar world to a Multipolar world.

The U.S President, Barack Obama, and Germany`s Angela Merkel didn`t come. Neither did other Western leaders like UK`s Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Francois Hollande. Moscow has increasingly appeared to pivot away from Europe and focus more on developing relations with China, I wrote in the article at that time in 2015.

The Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, was the most high-profile guest on the podium next to Putin. Other presidents in attendance included India`s Pranab Mukherjee, Presiden Abdel Fatah al-Sisi of Egypt, Raul Castro of Cuba, Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, and Jacob Zuma of South Africa.

«The boycott illustrates the depth and breadth of the chasm now separating Russia and the West,» said Dmitri Trenin, head of the Carnegie Moscow Center.

But what is Putin trying to say when he claims that the U.S is trying to create a «Unipolar World?»

Unipolarity in international politics is a distribution of power in which one state exercises most of the cultural, economic, and military influence. Unipolarity is an interstate system and not an Empire. Unipolarity implies the existence of many juridically equal non-states, something that an empire denies.

Unipolarity is anarchical. Anarchy results from the incomplete power preponderance of the Unipole. Kenneth Waltz, argues that great power cannot «exert a positive control everywhere in the world.» Therefore, relatively weaker countries have the freedom to pursue policy preferences independent of the Unipol.

Unipolar systems possess only one great power and face no competition. If a competitor emerges, the international system is no longer unipolar. Kenneth Waltz maintains that the United States is the only «pole» to possess global interests.

So, here we are. We knew at that time that Russia appeared to pivot away from Europe and focus more on developing relations with China.

Russia in bed with China, India, and Africa means a new world order, and that coalition is powerful. Keep in mind that 50% of the world population lives in China and India alone. In terms of business; that is a huge market.

The unipolar world has come to an end.

The modern international order, system, and relations developed after the end of the Thirty Years’ War in 1618 – 1648, and the conclusion of the Westphalia Treaty in 1648. Raymond Aaron studied international relations and he said: «I call the international system a set of political entities that maintain constant relations and can be involved in a large-scale war».

It`s all a part of an evolution, and there are four types of structural organization of the international system: the Westphalian system (1648-1789) as a system of classical European balance, the Vienna system (1814-1914) the system of European concert, the Versailles-Washington system (1919-1939) with the main conquest, the League of Nations and the Yalta-Potsdam system (1945-1991), the crown of which is the creation of the United Nations.

There are three types of world order: unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar. The unipolar world order presupposes the domination of a single super-power that is ahead of all other states by its combined power.

The bipolar world order is transformed into a multipolar one when economic and military power comparable to the power of the two states is reached by other powers. In an equilibrium system, several large states maintain roughly the same influence on the course of the events, restricting each other`s excessive claims.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the world was multipolar, but by the middle of the century, two World Wars and many smaller conflicts had created a bipolar model.

With the end of the cold war and the collapse of the Soviet Union, bipolarity was replaced by unipolarity. The United States began to play a major role. But that has come to an end.

Recent facts and events show that the United States cannot cope with the role of being the only pole in the current world order. They were unable to balance forces in the Middle East. Neither with their troops nor with the support of groups that tried to seize power. Therefore; the troops withdraw from the war in Afghanistan.

The old world order is gone forever. Now, the world has entered a period of uncertainty and increased risks, exacerbated by the inability of the United States and its allies to solve the global problems of our time.

Former Barack Obama adviser, President of the Council on Foreign Relations Richard Haas introduced the concept of a world without states or a multipolar world in his book «A World in Disarray: America Foreign Policy and the Crisis of the Old Order.»

Nations must be prepared to surrender independence to world structures. The unipolar system has ended, and International relations in the 21st century will determine the situation of polarity. The power would be blurred rather than concentrated, and the importance of nation-States would diminish as non-state actors strengthened.

A multipolar system complicates diplomatic activity. it`s not just that they’re more actors in the polar world. It lacks the predictable fixed structures and systems of relations that characterize unipolar, bipolar, and multipolar structures.

The multipolar system will be difficult and dangerous, and international relations are undergoing a powerful transformation in the 21st century that changes the nature, structure, and essence of the international order.

A formation of a new model of international relations will be very painful and costly, and the entire world order will have to go through an era of turbulence. We had the pandemic. Now, we have a war, but there is more pain to come. There will be more economic and social hardships and it`s time for more world chaos.

The British philosopher and sociologist Sigmund Bauman said: «No one can consider themselves truly indispensable. Even the most privileged status can be temporary and suddenly change».

The war in Ukraine could have ended long time ago

The war in Ukraine could have ended a long time ago. Putin has been giving Zelenskyy a great solution to the problems they have, but Zelenskyy rejected it. The reason is that the neo-Nazis are threatened to kill Zelenskyy if he signs a peace deal with Putin and Russia.

First of all I must say that many deep thinkers have predicted the war a long time ago, and believe it or not, President Joe Biden is one of them. He predicted the war in Ukraine 25 years ago. Henry Kissinger also warned on several occasions that NATO expansion would create tensions between Russia and the US as well as Russia and the rest of western Europe.

Henry Kissinger, the former secretary of state of the United States, while writing for the Wall Street Journal in 2014 following the annexation of Crimea pointed out that Ukraine cannot act as an outpost for either party but rather should act as a bridge between the West and Russia.

Ukraine is an inalienable part of Russia`s history and identity. «To treat Ukraine as part of an East-West confrontation would scuttle for decades any prospect to bring Russia and the West, especially Russia and Europe, into a cooperative international system,» Kissinger wrote for the Wall Street Journal.

The most important thing, in this case, is NATO`s Final Declaration Bucharest Summit on April 3, 2008, that says; «NATO welcomes Ukraine`s and Georgia`s Euro Atlantic aspirations for membership in NATO. We agreed today that these countries will become members of NATO.»

This is the deep cause: The aim of the United States and its European allies is to peel Ukraine away from the Soviet orbit and incorporate it into the West.

Jack Matlock said last month that NATO expansion would trigger an arms race. Matlock highlighted that the Soviet collapse was not because of western pressure but due to internal issues which led to its fall. He called the expansion of NATO a strategic blunder.

Naom Chomsky talked about Ukraine a year ago and said that the takeover of eastern Cuba is much worse than the situation in Ukraine today. But I`m not gonna talk about Cuba today. It`s all about Ukraine. Chomsky mentioned leading international relations specialist, John Mearsheimer who wrote an article in the main establishment journal foreign affairs with this headline;

THE WEST IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE UKRAINE CRISIS.

What Mearsheimer points out in his article is in 1990, when the Russian Empire collapsed. The question was about how should the post-war system develop? Gorbachev made a remarkable concession. He agreed to allow unified Germany to join a Western military alliance. If you think about history, that`s pretty astonishing, because Germany alone had practically destroyed Russia a couple of times in the century.

He was saying that a unified militarized Germany can join a hostile military alliance. There was a «quid pro quo.» A condition that NATO would not move phrase was one inch to the east. That meant East Germany.

But what did they do? NATO immediately moved to East Germany. Gorbachev was pretty upset, but he was informed by president Bush and James Baker, that this was just a verbal agreement. There was nothing on paper. The implication is if you`re dumb enough to accept the verbal gentleman`s agreement with the United States, that`s your problem.

Then Clinton came in, and NATO moved further towards the right to the border of Russia. But the big question is rather; why does NATO even exist after 1990 throughout the whole history of the cold war?

They say NATO is necessary to defend Western Europe from the Russian hordes. But what happens to NATO? It explodes. It expands to the east. Its mission changed. Its official mission now is not to defend Europe from the Russian hordes.

It`s to control the global energy system. Sea lanes and pipelines, and to serve as a US-run intervention force. We can all ask ourselves; «What was the nature of the propaganda we were fed all those years?»

If NATO was there to defend the west from the Russians, why is it now expanding the right to the borders of Russia, becoming a global and US intervention force protecting sea lanes and pipelines, and so on.

What that talk about the Cold war was just a pure lie, and there`s plenty more evidence for that.

Noam Chomsky said seven years ago that after a dangerous proxy war, keeping Ukraine Neutral offers a path to peace with Russia. So did John Mearsheimer. But who is listening? MSM? Nope. You never see people like this on MSM.

Mearsheimer said that Ukraine and NATO would be a security threat to Russia. But he said that many years ago. You all knew it. Deep thinkers told you all about it. The solution is a Neutral Ukraine.

Putin offered Zelenskyy that solution. A Neutral Ukraine, which is a buffer state between NATO and Russia, but Zelenskyy rejected it. Why? It`s probably the neo-Nazis. They will kill him if he agrees with Putin.

In 2013, Putin wanted an Economic Rescue Plan for Ukraine with Russia, the IMF, and the EU, but the EU said no foolishly.

The real losers in this war are the Ukrainians. Ukrainians are led down the primrose path. NATO has pushed very hard to encourage the Ukrainians to be part of NATO. They are pushed to be a western bulwark on Russia`s borders. Despite the fact that the Russians made it clear that this was unacceptable to them.

What the West did is to take a stick and poke the bear in the eye. And if you do that, that bear is not going to smile and laugh at what you`re doing. That bear is probably going to fight back, and that`s exactly what`s happening here. And that bear is going to tear apart Ukraine. That bear is in the process of tearing apart Ukraine.

So, who is responsible for all this? Russia? Of course not. The Russians are doing the dirty work. What caused the Russians to do this? According to John Mearsheimer, the answer is very simple; The United States of America.

Putin and Russia have repeatedly said that Georgia and Ukraine will never become part of NATO. In August 2008, you had a war involving the Russians and the Georgians over the whole issue of whether or not Georgia would become part of NATO.

The plan is to turn Ukraine into a pro-western liberal democracy, and it started with the Orange revolution in 2014. They want Ukraine to be a part of the West while sitting on Russia`s border. The crisis in Ukraine started on February 22, 2014, and that was a coup, supported by the United States.

The Revolution of Dignity is also known as the Maidan Revolution. It took place in Ukraine in February 2014 at the end of the Euromaidan protests in Kyiv.

It resulted in a pro-Russian leader; president Yanukovych, being overthrown and being replaced by a pro-American prime minister. The Russians found this intolerable. At the same time, they were debating with the West and the Ukrainians over EU expansion, and always in the background at that time was NATO expansion.

A civil war started in Ukraine in 2014, and this is also where the neo-Nazis are starting to grow. In 2017, President Trump decided to arm the Ukrainians. They also got training help. It also formed closer diplomatic ties with the Ukrainians. That spooked the Russians.

MSM is telling us all that Putin is the main cause of the war in Ukraine. They say Putin is crazy and irrational. Putin is bent on creating a greater Russia. Putin is a new Hitler, they say. I must say that it`s hard to believe that serious people can say things like that. It`s ridiculous.

They also say that Putin is an aggressor. He is expanding. He is trying to build a new USSR. I don`t understand how serious people can say things like that. It`s all nonsense. Russia doesn`t have enough resources to do that. Nor do they have money to expand. It`s deceit. A lie. they turn things upside down. Who acts like USSR? Russia? Of course not.

So, what we see here is NATO expansion. EU expansion. Promoting democracy. Is this war vital to the US? No. Is this war vital to Russia? Absolutely yes.

Vladimir Putin is “compelled by God” to invade Ukraine, and this is the beginning of the “end times”

I`m so fascinated by the times we are all living in at the moment. Mr. Trump took place in the Oval Office and people attacked him from day one. Why? He was a populist. He wanted to fix corruption at the highest level. He wanted to fix the establishment. But, that`s also why they attacked him.

But, take a look at President Zelenskyy. He is also a populist. He is anti-establishment, and he is working hard to fix corruption. That`s exactly the same agenda as Mr. Trump. But, people love him. The whole world is supporting him. Hmm…. that`s strange.

I have been watching Pastor Jimmy Evans for some time, and find it very fascinating that he is talking about «the end times.» In his book «The tipping point,» he is talking about the tumultuous times we are lining in.

From corrupt world politics to global pandemics to an unprecedented rebellion against God and His word. Humanity has reached a critical stage. Jimmy Evans has studied end times prophecy for more than 45 years and has taught it worldwide to millions of people.

He has examined biblical prophecies about the end times and points to their unmistakable parallels with today`s world. Pastor Evans makes a strong Biblical argument that we are in the last of the last days. The rapture of the Church literally could be any day. Jesus talked about it over 2000 years ago. He knew it was coming. He talked about a world of fear, and that`s what we are in right now. Mr. Evans can clearly see the signs and he sees that all these signs point to Israel.

President Zelenskyy is Jewish, but he is surrounded by neo-Nazis in Ukraine, which is a corrupt and rotten place on earth. President Vladimir Putin talked about the neo-Nazis in a speech earlier today, and what they are doing is to stop people in Ukraine to move out of the town. The neo-Nazis are using innocent people as shields.

Mr. Putin reaffirmed his claim that the Russian military was fighting «neo-Nazis», adding that some Ukrainians were also «fooled by nationalist propaganda».

In a call with French President Emmanuel Macron, Putin was so undaunted by international condemnation that an Elysee official bleakly concluded;» We expect that the worst is yet to come.»

Putin also said in the speech that the West is to blame for the conflict and «denied having bombarded Kyiv».

This is also in line with what Televangelist Pat Robertson says; «Putin`s march on Ukraine is the beginning of the «end times.»

Some people compare Putin to Hitler, but those who claim things like that don`t know what they are talking about. They are ridiculous. But, is he mad? Crazy?

Perhaps, Pat Robertson says, but God says; «I am going to put hooks in your jaws.»

Televangelist Pat Robertson is an old man, and he came out of his retirement to say Russia`s president Vladimir Putin was «compelled by God» to invade Ukraine. He also added the shocking claim that Mr. Putin`s attack on Ukraine was in preparation for a massive «end times» invasion of Israel.

The 91-year-old insisted this was all a part of an «end times» battle and that Mr. Putin was just following God`s plan.

Mr. Robertson said «People say that Putin`s out of his mind. Yes, maybe so. But at the same time, he`s being compelled by God. He went into Ukraine but that wasn`t his goal. His goal was to move against Israel, ultimately.»

The aging televangelist continued to say that Russia was using Ukraine as a «staging area» and God had put «hooks» in the Russian president`s «jaws» for a reason to draw him to his stage. I am gonna draw you into this…. whether you like it or not.,» he said.

Mr. Robertson claimed God had his conspiracy that was being implemented via Mr. Putin.

«All of those troops there are going to be coming against Israel in the latter days. And God says, «I am going to take care of it,» he said. He also told his viewers on The 700 Club on the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), to read the bible because it`s coming to pass.

This is also in line with what Mr. Trump said to Fox News. He said Ukraine is a Holocaust, but he didn`t blame Mr. Putin. Zelenskyy said in a speech today; «The end of the world has arrived.» He used words like «Apocalypse.» Ukrainian Holocaust survivors plead from bunkers for Vladimir Putin to stop the war. By the way, did you know that 60% of the Holocaust during WWII were Russians?

Mr. Robertson cited verses from the book of Ezekiel that note how nations will come together to rise up against Israel, suggesting that Ukraine is merely a «staging ground» for an eventual Armageddon battle.

«God is getting ready to do something amazing,» Mr. Robertson said. And that will be fulfilled.

Hold on to your hats folks. Big things will happen. Be prepared.

Nikita Khruschev gave Crimea to Ukraine for free in 1954

Vladimir Putin is doing exactly what Boris Johnson and Joe Biden are doing; «Building back better.» Putin is working very hard to fix all the problems that the communist Bolsheviks made during their revolution: October Revolution.

The Russian Revolution was a period of political and social revolution that took place in the former Russian Empire which began during World War I. The Bolsheviks killed the Royal family Romanov that has ruled Russia for 302 years.

This period saw Russia abolish its monarchy and adopt a socialist form of government following two successive revolutions and bloody civil war. This socialist revolution ended the Russian monarchy and Tsar Nicholas II abdicated and stepped down, ushering in a new government led by the Russian Duma (parliament) which became the Russian Provisional Government. This government was dominated by the interests of prominent capitalists, as well as the Russian nobility and aristocracy.

People were killed by The Provisional Government, with the support of Socialist-Revolutionary Party-Menshevik leaders of the All-Russian Executive Committee of the Soviets, in Petrograd in a peaceful demonstration.

During this chaotic period, there were frequent mutinies, protests, and strikes. Many socialist and other leftist political organizations were engaged in daily struggle and vied for influence within the Provisional Government and the Soviets.

One such faction was the Bolsheviks («Ones of the Majority») led by Vladimir Lenin. The Bolsheviks gained support by campaigning on a slogan of peace, land, and bread which promised to cease war with Germany, give land to the peasantry, and end the famine caused by Russia`s involvement in WWI. These slogans had a direct effect on the growing Bolshevik popularity.

Under pressure from German military offensives, the Bolsheviks soon relocated the national capital to Moscow. The Bolsheviks had secured a strong base of support within the Soviets and, as the supreme governing party, established their own government, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR).

The RSFSR began the process of reorganizing the former empire into the world`s first socialist state, to practice soviet democracy on a national and international scale.

The Great October Socialist Revolution under the Soviet Union, also known as the Bolshevik Revolution (1917 – 1923), almost destroyed Russia as we know it today. This is why Putin is working hard to restore what the Bolsheviks destroyed.

This is where the problems in Ukraine and Crimea start. it`s also called the Soviet-Ukrainian War, or Ukrainian Civil War, which is the term commonly used in post-Soviet Ukraine for the events taking place between 1917 – 1921, nowadays regarded essentially as a war between the Ukrainian People`s Republic and the Bolsheviks. The war ensued soon after the October Revolution when Lenin dispatched Antonov`s expeditionary group to Ukraine and Southern Russia.

Soviet historical tradition viewed it as an occupation of Ukraine by military forces of Western and Central Europe, including the Polish Republic`s military, the Bolshevik victory constituting Ukraine`s liberation from these forces.

Conversely, modern Ukrainian historians consider it a failed war of independence by the Ukrainian People`s Republic against the Bolsheviks.

In Soviet historiography and terminology, the armed conflict is depicted as part of the greater Russian Civil War in Ukraine, this war was fought between the national government and the Bolshevik government (led by Lenin).

The war may be divided into three phases:

  1. December 1917 – April 1918: Revolutionary days, Bolshevik uprisings, invasion of the Red Guards formations, signing of protectorate treaty, and liberation from bolsheviks.
  2. December 1918 – December 1919: Civil war in Ukraine, invasion of the Red Army, unification of Ukraine, anti-Soviet peasant uprisings, Denikin’s Volunteer Army and the Allied intervention, loss of West Ukraine to Poland.
  3. Spring 1920 – Autumn 1921: Polish-Soviet War (Treaty of Warsaw), Russian Civil War (between Bolsheviks armies and the armed Forces of South Russia), Ukrainian guerrilla operations (First and Second Winter Campaigns), government in exile.

In October 1917 the government of Ukraine denounced the Bolshevis’ armed revolt and declared it would decisively fight against any attempted coup in Ukraine. The Kyiv Military District command tried to prevent a Bolshevik coup, leading to street fights and eventually surrendering of pro-Bolshevik troops in the city.

On November 20, 1917, the Rada declared Ukraine the Ukrainian People`s Republic as an autonomous part of the Russian Republic and scheduled on January 9, 1918, elections to a Ukrainian Constituent Assembly.

The Russo-Ukrainian War is an ongoing war primarily involving Russia, Belarus, and pro-Russian forces on one side, and Ukraine on the other. The war we see today isn`t a new one. It has been going on since February 2014 in the wake of the Revolution of Dignity and focused on the status of Crimea and parts of the Donbas, which are internationally recognized as part of Ukraine.

Nikita Khruschev gave Crimea to Ukraine for free in 1954. That transfer was illegal under Soviet law and violated both the Constitution of the Soviet Union and the Constitution of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic. This is how Putin and Russia now are building back better.

They want to have Crimea and Ukraine back again because it has been a part of Russia. How legitimate is it that Crimea is given to Ukraine by a drunken Nikita Khruschev? It is also given to Ukraine that is also stolen during the Bolshevik revolution in 1917. The communists have done so damage to Russia, and Putin is trying to fix it. By diplomatic solutions or by war and bombs.

In a speech live on TV, on 24 February, Putin said; «The goal is to protect people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years. And for this, we will strive for the demilitarisation and denazification of Ukraine, as well as bringing to justice those who committed numerous, bloody crimes against civilians, including citizens of the Russian Federation.»

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the first Jewish President of Ukraine. He is a former actor and comedian. Another puppet on the scene with a lot of neo-Nazis hiding behind the scenes. A trick to make people blindsided.

Zelenskyy is a populist. He has also positioned himself as an anti-establishment, and anti-corruption figure. He became a President in 2019, promised to end Ukraine`s protracted conflict with Russia as part of his presidential campaign, and attempted to engage in dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The US government has alluded to intelligence indicating that the Kremlin is preparing lists of Ukrainians to be killed or put in camps. The alleged lists include journalists.

So, what Putin is talking about is what NATO and the West don`t want to talk about; Azov Battalion, which is a group of a neo-Nazi unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. Azov initially formed as a volunteer militia on 5 May 2014 during the Odessa clashes. On 12 November 2014, Azov was incorporated into the National Guard of Ukraine, and since then all members are contract soldiers serving in the National Guard of Ukraine.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Azov Battalion`s extremist politics and professional English social media pages have attracted foreign fighters, including people from Brazil, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Greece, Scandinavia, Spain, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Russia.

About 50 Russian nationals are members of the Azov regiment. The group has used Facebook to recruit far-right individuals from other countries within Europe. In 2019, under Facebook`s Dangerous Individuals and Organizations policy, support for the group was not allowed, although this was temporarily relaxed during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Reports published by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) have connected the Azov Battalion to war crimes such as mass looting, unlawful detention, and torture.

An OHCHR report from March 2016 stated that the organization had «collected detailed information about the conduct of hostilities by Ukrainian armed forces and the Azov regiment in and around Shyrockyne from the summer of 2014 to date.

Mass looting of civilians’ homes was documented, as well as targeting of civilian areas between September 2014 and February 2015.

MSM doesn`t talk about this. What they talk about is people supporting Ukraine and that some people are moving to Ukraine to join the Nazi forces. We also see that many countries like Germany are supporting Ukraine with weapons.

This war is also a war against the European globalists.

The U.K is out of the EU with a Brexit slam dunk, and PM Boris Johnson is building back better. Biden is also building back better, but what happens if the U.S is pulling out as a leader from the West? If so, and Europe is building its own weapon arsenal, then this world will become even more dangerous, and Europe will be changed forever.

6 million were killed in Ukraine and The Bolsheviks was responsible for the Holodomor

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is a complex crisis, but the answer lies in history. Who knows that Kiyv once was more powerful than Moscow? It was also a time when Ukraine and America were adversaries.

Neanderthal settlement in Ukraine is also seen in the Moldova archaeological sites (43,000 – 45,000 BC) which includes a dwelling constructed from mammoth bones. The territory is also considered to be the likely location for the human domestication of the horse.

So, there is no doubt that Ukraine is something special. But what is it? Alexandr Solzhenitsyn criticized the Allies for not opening a new front against Nazi Germany in the west earlier in World War II. This resulted in Soviet domination and control of the nations of Eastern Europe.

Solzhenitsyn claimed the Western democracies apparently cared little about how many died in the East, as long as they could end the war quickly and painlessly for themselves in the West. In 1978, he called the United States «Dechristianized» and mired boorish consumerism. Wow, that`s a long time ago, and we have the same going on even today.

He also accused the Western news media of left-wing bias (Wow! Really?), of violating the privacy of celebrities, and of filling up the «immortal souls» of their readers with celebrity gossip and other «vain talk».

He also said that the West erred in thinking that the whole world should embrace this as a model. While faulting Soviet society for rejecting basic human rights and the rule of law, he also critiqued the West for being too legalistic.

«A society which is based on the letter of the law and never reaches any higher is taking very scarce advantage of the high level of human possibilities.»

Solzhenitsyn also argued that the West erred in «denying (Russian culture`s) autonomous character and therefore never understood it».

Solzhenitsyn was also critical of NATO`s eastward expansion towards Russia`s borders. In 2006, Solzhenitsyn accused NATO of trying to bring Russia under its control; he claimed this was visible because of its «ideological support for the «color revolutions» and the paradoxical forcing of North Atlantic interests on Central Asia».

(Worldwide media use the term color revolution to describe various protest movements and accompanying attempted or successful change of governments that took place in several countries such as former Soviet Union. Russia, China, and Vietnam share the view that color revolutions are the «product of machinations by the U.S and other Western powers» and pose a vital threat to their public and national security).

In a 2006 interview with Der Spiegel, he stated «This was especially painful in the case of Ukraine, a country whose closeness to Russia is defined by literally millions of family ties among our peoples, relatives living on different sides of the national border. At one fell stroke, these families could be torn apart by a new dividing line, the border of a military bloc.»

He gave a speech in Washington D.C, on 30 June 1975 in which he mentioned how the system created by the Bolsheviks in 1917 caused dozens of problems in the Soviet Union. He described how this system was responsible for the Holodomor.

It was a system that, in time of peace, artificially created a famine, causing 6 million people to die in Ukraine in 1932 and 1933. He added: «they died on the very edge of Europe. And Europe didn`t even notice it. The world didn`t even notice it! 6 million people»

In 2008, he said that, while the famine in Ukraine was both artificial and caused by the state, it was no different than the Russian famine of 1921. he expressed the belief that both famines were caused by the systematic armed robbery of the harvests from both Russian and Ukrainian peasants by Bolshevik units, which were under orders from the Politburo to bring back food for the starving urban population centers while refusing for ideological reasons to permit any private sale of food supplies in the cities or to give any payment to the peasants in return for the food that was seized.

Solzhenitsyn further alleged that the theory that the Holodomor was a genocide that only victimized the Ukrainian people was created decades later by believers in an anti-Russian form of extreme Ukrainian nationalism.

He also cautioned that the ultranationalist’s claims risked being accepted without question in the West due to widespread ignorance and misunderstanding thereof both Russian and Ukrainian history.

The Holodomor means; «to kill by starvation».

It is also known as the Terror-famine, or the Great Famine, which was a famine in Soviet Ukraine from 1932 to 1933 that killed millions of Ukrainians. The term Holodomor emphasizes the famine`s man-made and allegedly intentional aspects such as rejection of outside aid, confiscation of all household foodstuffs, and restriction of population movement.

As part of the wider Soviet famine which affected the major grain-producing areas of the country, millions of inhabitants of Ukraine, the majority of whom were ethnic Ukrainians, died of starvation in a peacetime catastrophe unprecedented in the history of Ukraine.

Since 2006, the Holodomor has been recognized by Ukraine and 15 other countries as a genocide of the Ukrainian people carried out by the Soviet government.

Whether the Holodomor was genocide is still the subject of academic debate, as are the causes of the famine and intentionality of the deaths. Some scholars believe that the famine was planned by Joseph Stalin to eliminate a Ukrainian independence movement. Others suggest that the man-made famine was a consequence of Soviet industrialization.

According to Elazar Barkan, Elizabeth A. Cole, and Kai Stuve, there is a competition among victims in constructing a «Ukrainian Holocaust», stating that since the 1990`s Holodomor has been adopted by anti-communists due to its similarity to the Holocaust in an attempt to promote the narrative that the Soviet Communists killed 10 million Ukrainians, while the Nazis only killed 6 million Jews.

They stated that Holodomor was «introduced and popularized by the Ukrainian diaspora in North America before Ukraine became independent» and that «the term «Holocaust» is not explained at all.»

According to them, this has been used to create a «victimized national narrative» and «compete with the Jewish narrative in order to obscure the «dark sides» of Ukraine`s national history and to counter accusations that their fathers collaborated with the Germans.

Holodomor translated from Ukrainian means «death by hunger», «killing by hunger», «killing by starvation», or sometimes «murder by hunger or starvation.»

It is a compound of the Ukrainian holod, «hunger», and mor, «plague». The expression moryty holodom means «to inflict death by hunger.»

The Ukrainian verb moryty means «to poison, to drive to exhaustion, or to torment.» The perfective form of moryty is zamoity, «kill or drive to death by hunger, exhausting work.»

In English, the Holodomor has also been referred to as the artificial famine, famine-genocide, terror famine, and terror-genocide.

Holodomor is now an entry in the modern, two-volume dictionary of the Ukrainian language, published in 2004, described as «artificial by hunger, organized on a vast scale by a criminal regime against a country`s population.

On 24 February, EU leaders met at a special summit convened following Russia`s aggression against Ukraine. They agreed on further sanctions against Russia that target; the financial sector, the energy, and transport sectors, dual-use goods, export control and export financing, visa policy, and additional sanctions against Russian individuals.

Like Trudeau in Canada, the EU will freeze Russian assets and probably cut off SWIFT for now.

There is no doubt that ordinary innocent people will be attacked and suffer, and in the long run, we`re talking about starvation. Or «killing by starvation.» Is this Holodomor 2,0?
