“Is Hate Speech Really Free Speech?”

Freedom of speech is one of our most cherished rights, yet it’s also one of the most misunderstood. Where do we draw the line between free expression and harassment? When mocking becomes humiliation, and jokes turn into attacks, dignity is lost. And dignity, just like freedom, is a human right.

Freedom of speech is one of the most important rights in democratic societies. It allows people to express thoughts, ideas, and beliefs publicly without fear of government censorship or punishment. This includes spoken words, written expression, art, and the exchange of information.

But freedom of speech is not absolute. A central question remains: Is hate speech really free speech, or does it cross into something else, harassment, abuse, and the violation of human dignity?

(Picture: Reflection: When Disrespect Becomes the Norm

The public treatment of leaders is a mirror of society’s values. Since 2016, we have seen how mockery and humiliation, like the “Trump balloon,” are used not to challenge policies, but to strip a person of dignity. Whether or not one agrees with Trump, the method of ridicule says more about us than about him.

When humiliation replaces respectful disagreement, it weakens the foundations of democracy. It creates a culture where harassment becomes normalized, spreading to schools, workplaces, and everyday life. If the West tolerates public harassment at the highest levels, how can we hope to eliminate bullying and harassment among teenagers?

Freedom of speech is not a license to abuse. A society that wants to survive and grow stronger must defend both freedom and dignity, because without dignity, freedom eventually collapses.)

The Limits of Free Speech

While free speech is widely protected, democratic societies do place boundaries on it. According to the First Amendment in the U.S. and Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, restrictions are lawful when necessary to protect:

  • Public order
  • National security
  • Public health
  • The rights and reputations of others

Categories such as incitement to violence, true threats, defamation, obscenity, and fraud are not protected speech. In other words, freedom of speech is not a license to abuse.

When Speech Becomes Harassment

Harassment goes beyond free expression. It is a form of discrimination that involves unwanted, offensive, intimidating, or humiliating behavior. Examples include:

  • Derogatory jokes, racial or ethnic slurs
  • Unwanted comments about religion or appearance
  • Pressure for sexual favors
  • Offensive graffiti, cartoons, or images

Harassment can take different forms:

  1. Verbal or written (insults, threats, degrading comments)
  2. Physical (unwanted contact, intimidation)
  3. Visual (symbols, gestures, offensive imagery)

When harassment becomes repetitive, it turns into bullying, often leaving lasting emotional scars. At its worst, harassment and humiliation constitute psychological abuse and may even lead to criminal charges.

Freedom of Speech vs. Human Dignity

Here lies the conflict: freedom of speech is a right, but human dignity is also a right. Dignity means recognizing the intrinsic value of every human being and treating them with respect.

Mocking or humiliating people, whether powerful leaders or ordinary individuals, strips them of their dignity. It erodes respect. And if harassment is normalized at the highest levels of media and comedy, how can we expect young people in schools to learn respect and kindness?

A Question for Media and Comedians

Since 2016, comedians and media outlets have mocked, criticized, and even harassed the most powerful man on the planet. Some say it’s fair satire; others see it as relentless humiliation. But here’s the real issue: if harassment is accepted at the top of society, how can it be eliminated in classrooms, workplaces, or online communities?

The principle is simple: free speech must not become a weapon to degrade others.

Respect as the Foundation

Every person, regardless of power, status, or circumstance, deserves:

  • Respect: showing esteem for their humanity
  • Dignity: recognizing their inherent worth
  • Equality: treating all people fairly

Speech that destroys these values is not freedom—it’s abuse.

The Role of Platforms

In the digital era, platforms amplify speech through Section 230 protections in U.S. law, which shield platforms from being sued for user content. However, the responsibility ultimately lies with the individual: what you post online is your responsibility.

Social media can either become a space for respectful dialogue or a weapon of harassment. The choice belongs to us.

Conclusion

Free speech is vital to democracy, but it comes with responsibility. Hate speech, harassment, and humiliation are not the same as free expression; they are violations of dignity.

The way forward is not to silence voices, but to promote respect, reject harassment, and recognize that freedom without responsibility can lead to abuse.

Kamala Harris lied and said Trump will hike the taxes

Vice President Kamala Harris said in a speech at the DNC convention, that Donald Trump doesn`t fight for the middle class people. She said he is fighting for himself, and his rich friends. Instead of a Trump tax hike, we will pass a middle-class tax cut, she said.

When did Trump say he is planning a tax hike? Never. Trump and the Republicans stand for the opposite. They want to cut taxes and it is their core values. It is the Democrats that want to increase the taxes.

Harris’ economic proposal is 28% corporate tax. 44,6% capital gains tax. 25% tax on unrealized gains. Price controls. No tax on tips, and up to $6K Child tax credit.

Many people do not understand politics, and they don`t know the difference between left and right. They don`t understand the difference between the Democrats and Republicans.

The Democrats on the left side want to steal as much money as they can from people. Republicans do the opposite, and tax cuts are very important to Republicans.

Tax cuts are a significant priority for Republicans in the U.S. Tax policy has been a central issue for the Republican Party for many decades, with tax cuts often being at the forefront of their economic agenda. Here are a few key reasons why tax cuts are important to Republicans:

LIMITED GOVERNMENT: Tax cuts are seen as a way to limit the size and scoop of government. By reducing the amount of revenue the government collects, Republicans aim to curb government spending and encourage more efficient use of resources.

SUPPLY-SIDE ECONOMICS: This economic theory, often associated with Republican policy, suggests that lower taxes lead to increased production, investment, and innovation, which in turn can boost overall economic activity and eventually increase government revenue despite the lower tax rates.

INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM: Many Republicans believe that individuals should have the freedom to spend and invest their money as they see fit, rather than having the government take a larger share through taxation. Tax cuts are seen as a way to enhance personal liberty by reducing government intervention in people`s financial lives.

POLITICAL IDENTITY: Tax cuts have become a core part of the Republican Party`s identity. Prominent Republican leaders, such as Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, have implemented significant tax cuts during their administrations, reinforcing the party`s commitment to this issue.

Harris said she want to cut taxes, and you can see thousands of people at the DNC convention agree with her, but this is a Republican policy. Saying that Trump will hike taxes is a BIG LIE.

You can also see that nearly all the Democrats Freedom banners, but this is a Republican agenda. They are stealing everything that Trump and the Republicans stands for. Why? They don`t have their own agenda. They don`t have a clear vision for the future. This is embarrassing.

Tax cuts are a cornerstone of Republican economic philosophy, reflecting their broader goals of promoting economic growth, limiting government, and enhancing individual freedom.

Far-right populist movements making a last desperate stand for liberalism and democracy against a rising tide of progressivism and globalism

Donald Trump is still popular. In 2018, Republicans used to call Ronald Reagan the best president in US history, but now, in 2021, it`s Donald Trump, according to the latest Economist/YouGov poll. Trump is at the top (36%), while Ronald Reagan is second (18%), followed by Abraham Lincoln (13%).

Among all Americans, Donald Trump comes in third at 13% with Barrack Obama on top of the list at 18%, followed by Abraham Lincoln at 17%. President Joe Biden is not on the list at all, as he had served less than 20 days when the survey began.

I support all the presidents no matter what side they are on, but that doesn`t mean I agree with all they do and say. Right now, Biden is the president, and he has a lot of things to fix. And Trump talked about it in his speech at CPAC.

«We`re in the middle of a historic struggle for America`s future, America`s culture, and America`s institutions. Our very identity as Americans is at stake, like perhaps at no other time, so no matter how much the Washington establishment and the powerful special interests may want to silence us, let there be no doubt; we will be victorious and America will be stronger and greater than ever before,» Trump said in the speech.

Much of the crazy ideas are coming from the left side. Ideas like language are violent, don`t practice yoga or cook Chinese food, there is no such thing as biological sex and only white people can be racist. Many people are confused by these ideas.

Do you wonder how some people on the left side have managed so quickly to challenge the very logic of Western society?

What`s going on in America is not unique. It`s the same playbook in Europe as well. President Macron talked about it a few days ago and said he doesn`t want all these crazy ideas from the left in France. Sorry Macron, but it all started there; in France.

It`s an evolution from French postmodernism to its refinement within activist academic fields. Today we can recognize it by its effects, such as cancel culture and social-media dogpiles, as by its tenets, which are all too often embraced as axiomatic in mainstream media:

knowledge is a social construct; science and reason are tools of oppression; all human interactions are sites of oppressive power play, and language is dangerous. As they warn, the unchecked proliferation of these anti-Enlightenment beliefs presents a threat not only to liberal democracy but also to modernity itself.

This is what authors Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay talk about in their book; «cynical theories.» While acknowledging the need to challenge the complacency of those who think a just society has been fully achieved, Pluchrose and Lindsay break down how this often-radical activist scholarship does far more harm than good, not least to those marginalized communities it claims to champion.

They also detail its alarmingly inconsistent and illiberal ethics. Only through a proper understanding of the evolution of these ideas, they conclude, can those who value science, reason, and consistently liberal ethics successfully challenge this harmful and authoritarian orthodoxy, in the academy, in culture, and beyond.

During the modern period in the last two centuries in most Western countries, there has been developed a broad consensus in favor of the political philosophy known as «liberalism.»

The main tenets of liberalism are political democracy, limitations on the powers of government, the development of universal human rights, legal equality for all adult citizens, freedom of expression, respect for the value of viewpoint diversity and honest debate, respect for evidence and reason, the separation of church and state, and freedom of religion.

These liberal values developed as ideas and it has taken centuries of struggle against theocracy, slavery, patriarchy, colonialism, fascism, and many other forms of discrimination to honor them as much as we do, still imperfectly today, Pluckrose and Lindsay said.

But the struggle for social justice has always been strongest when it has cast itself as the defender of liberal values universally, insisting that they are applied to all individuals, not just to wealthy white males.

It must be noted that the general philosophical position that we call «liberalism» is compatible with a wide range of positions on political, economic, and social questions, including both what Americans call «liberal» (and Europeans call «social-democratic») and modern forms of what people in all countries call «conservative.»

This philosophical liberalism is opposed to authoritarian movements of all types, be they left-wing or right-wing, secular of theocratic.

Liberalism is thus best thought of as a shared common ground, providing a framework for conflict resolution and one within which people with a variety of views on political, economic, and social questions can rationally debate the options for public policy.

However, we have reached a point in history where liberalism and modernity at the heart of Western civilization are at great risk on the level of the ideas that sustain them.

The precise nature of this threat is complicated, as it arises from at least two overwhelming pressures, one revolutionary and the other reactionary, that are waging war with each other over which illiberal direction our societies should be dragged.

Far-right populist movements claiming to be making a last desperate stand for liberalism and democracy against a rising tide of progressivism and globalism are on the rise around the world.

Trump said in the speech that his movement is successful. «We began it together four years ago and it is far from being over,» he said.

Media keeps people mentally enslaved to the ideas they deem correct

The Trump Hate Media Mob attacked President Donald Trump the same day he was inaugurated. But Trump fought back and called it «Fake News.» So, what has happened since then? Easy; MSM is much better today than only a few years ago. Thanks to one man; Trump.

Tiffany Trump talked about MSM in her speech at RNC earlier today. She said; «If you tune into the media and you get one biased opinion or another. And what you share, if it does not fit into the narrative that they seek to promote, then it is either ignored or deemed a lie regardless of the truth…

This misinformation system keeps people mentally enslaved to the ideas they deem correct,» she said. «Working together, outside of our political comfort zones will accomplish so much more. Some cynical politicians do not seem to believe in the miracle of America. Well, I do.»

Later on, she referenced Cuban immigrant Maximo Alvarez`s speech from the first night of the RNC, saying, «Having hope is not weakness, and believing in miracles is a gift from God.»

«So tonight, I want to tell you the uncensored truth of what we believe in: We believe inequality of opportunity. We believe in freedom of thought and expression… We believe in school choice because a child`s zip code in America should not determine their future.

We believe in freedom of religion for all faiths, and we believe in the American spirit, a country founded on ideas not identity, a country where our differences are embraced and the only country where the word «dream» has been attached to it.»

«In America, your life is yours to chart. So, if you`re hearing these things and thinking to yourself, «That is a country that I want to live in, then whether you realize it or not, you are a Trump supporter,» she added.

These are great words from a young woman, but she also talked about the election. She said; «This election, I urge each and every one of you to transcend political boundaries. This is a fight for freedom versus oppression, for opportunity versus stagnation, a fight to keep America true to America. I urge you to make a judgment based on results and not rhetoric.»

Hong Kong falls into recession

The freedom-fighters continue to protest against the Communists in China, but it isn`t cheap. The Hong Kong economy shrank 2,9 percent YoY in the third quarter of 2019. They`re on the way down to recession for the first time since the third quarter of 2009.

The economy is declining while the government spending are growing at a faster pace. What a toxic mix. Government spending increased 5,3 percent while fixed investment declined 16,3 percent. Private consumption shrank 3,5 percent and exports of goods fell 7 percent.

The freedom-fighters in Hong Kong have used masks for months now, but today they celebrated Halloween. But the Hong Kong police fired tear gas into the crowd of masked Halloween protersters.

People in Hong Kong need to know that the rest of the world is supporting them, and everybody in this world must ask themselves what the value of money is compared to freedom? Readers of Shinebull.com know that money is worthless. Freedom isn`t.
