Outrageous Predictions 2016

It`s time for some predictions for 2016, and Saxo Bank is out with their own predictions and they are outrageous. “Outrageous Predictions” are “Outrageous Predictions”. Very bold. They are outrageous, expecting next year’s El Niño to be the strongest ever. Oil making a drastic return to $100 a barrel, and EURUSD to skyrocket back to 1,23 to name a few.

Steen Jakobsen, Chief Economist at Saxo Bank, commented: “We are nearing the end of the paradigm paralysis that has dominated the policy response to the global financial crisis. Quantitative easing and other forms of intervention have failed. China is transitioning, and geopolitical tensions are as complex as ever. The marginal cost of money is rising, and so is volatility and uncertainty. It is against this backdrop we have set this year’s predictions.”

Predictions 2016
Saxo Bank’s Outrageous Predictions 2016

  1. EURUSD direction? It’s 1.23…
Europe is running a massive current account surplus and its weaker inflation should, in macroeconomic logic, mean a stronger currency, not a weaker one. The race to the bottom has gone full circle, meaning we are back to a weaker US dollar again as the direct outcome of US interest rates policy.
  2. Russia’s rouble rises 20% by end-2016
By the end of 2016, a surge in oil demand and the Fed raising rates at an inappropriately slow pace causes the Russian rouble to rise some 20% versus the US dollar/euro basket in 2016.
  3. Silicon Valley’s unicorns brought back down to earth
2016 will resemble 2000 in Silicon Valley with more startups delaying monetization and tangible business models in exchange for adding users and trying to achieve critical mass.
  4. Olympics to turbo-charge EM’s Brazil-led recovery
Stabilisation, investment spending on the Olympics, and modest reforms will see sentiment rebound in Brazil, with EM exports helped by cheaper local currencies. The result: EM equities to have a great year – outperforming bonds and other equities.
  5. Democrats retain presidency, retake Congress in 2016 landslide
The Republican Party goes from strength to dramatic weakness as the rifts from an internal struggle on its future direction play out. This leads to a landslide victory for the Democratic Party as they successfully execute a get-out-the-vote campaign with Millennials coming out in droves having been frustrated by the political stalemate and weak job prospects of the last eight years.
  6. OPEC turmoil triggers brief return to $100/b oil
OPEC’s crude oil basket price drops to the lowest since 2009 and unease among weaker as well as wealthier members of the cartel over the supply-and-rule strategy continues to grow. The long-awaited sign of an accelerated slowdown in non-OPEC production finally begins to flicker. Suitably buoyed, OPEC catches the market on the hop with a downward adjustment in output. The price mounts a quick recovery with investors scrambling to re-enter the market to the long side – once again bringing $100/barrel prices onto the horizon.
  7. Silver breaks golden shackles to rally 33%
2016 will see a renewed confidence in silver. The political drive towards reducing carbon dioxide emissions by supporting renewable energy will add to increased industrial demand for the metal, given its use in solar cells. As such, silver will rally by a third, leaving other metals behind.
  8. Aggressive Fed sees meltdown in global corporate bonds
Late 2016 will see Fed chief Janet Yellen embark down a hawkish path with a series of aggressive rate hikes, triggering a huge selloff in all major bond markets as yields start to rise. As the portions of bank and broker balance sheets allotted to bond trading and market making have almost disappeared, one of the vital parts of a functioning market is simply not there. This realisation sinks in too late and the entire buy-side flee into a panic selling one-way street, as highly advanced risk models lurch into a symmetric red alert.
  9. El Niño sparks inflation surge
Next year’s El Niño will be the strongest on record and will cause moisture deficits in many areas of southeast Asia and droughts in Australia. Lower yields across agricultural commodities will curb supply at a time when demand is still increasing on the back of global economic expansion. The outcome will be a 40% surge in the Bloomberg Agriculture Spot Index, adding some much-needed inflationary pressure.
  10. Inequality has last laugh on luxury
Faced with rising inequality and unemployment of over 10%, Europe is considering the introduction of a basic universal income to ensure that all citizens can afford to meet their basic needs. In a more egalitarian society where other values are promoted, demand for luxury goods decreases sharply – the sector collapses.

The new Hyperloop is ready for tests in 2016

As a business man or woman, you know that «time is money». If you want to move from A to B as soon as possible, you will take the plane. Not the train. The plane will spend about an hour, while the train will spend about six hours on the same route.

But what if you can move 800 miles per hour (1,300 km/h)?

An American company called Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) want to do something with that. They has developed a transportation system based on the Hyperloop concept, which was envisioned by Elon Musk in 2013.

The consept of the Hyperloop was popularized by Elon Musk, not affiliated with HTT. The concept was to develop a high-speed, intercity transporter using a low pressure tube train which would reach a top speed of 800 miles per hour, or 1,300 km/h with a yearly capacity of 15 million passengers. That`s fast eh? Not only that. HTT is also planning to develop a slower privatized urban Hyperloop for inter-suburb travel. The hyperloop is built for both cargo and people.

Blade Runner
Blade Runner is the one and only known test rig of its kind. It was designed, fabricated and built by the Hyperloop team with the purpose of testing scaled axial compressor blades and aerodynamic structures in environments down to 1/1000 of atmospheric pressure. Powered by two 2,000 CFM Vacuum pumps, this unique design allows the Hyperloop team to conduct long duration tests while simultaneously adjusting flow variables. The innovative, variable throat geometry allows testing in speeds ranging from subsonic thru supersonic regimes.
Levitation Rig
The Hyperloop Levitation Rig is another unique test stand designed, fabricated and built by the Hyperloop team. This test stand is housed in an 18 cubic meter environmental chamber that is capable of achieving pressures down to 1/1000 of atmospheric. The rotor achieves surface speeds in excess of 300 m/s. These speeds are necessary to simulate Hyperloop’s cutting edge levitation systems that will be adapted for use on the Hyperpod.
The Big Tube
The Big Tube is Hyperloop Tech’s largest piece of hardware. This carbon steel vessel weighs approximately 70,000 lbs, is 50 feet long, and 12 feet in diameter. The Big Tube is used to validate tube design, orifice design, vacuum pass through design, weld design, manufacturing automation, and many more amazing projects. The driving motivation for the Big Tube is to serve as a central test vessel for all future hardware development. As Hyperloop Tech grows, The Big Tube will only get larger since this is the first step to building the loop.

The idea of lightspeed travel to the masses will begin testing in Nevada desert next year. HTT anounced yesterday that they has entered into agreements to locate their Propulsion Open Air Test (POAT) on an approximately 50 acre site it has secured in the Mountain View Industrial Park in the City of North Las Vegas, Nevada. Wow!

«This decision represents another major milstone in our journey to bring Hyperloop to commercial reality,» said former Cisco president, CEO Rob Lloyd.

Hyperloop is a transportation system in which a full-length tube is built between destinations, with a controlled environment inside the tube allowing people to travel at extremely fast speed. This technology will change the way the world views transportation.

Hyperloop Technologies, Inc, is the world`s next breakthrough in transportation.

The kick off for the testing will take place in the first quarter of 2016.

X-Factor UK final 2015

X-Factor UK is near the end and only three X-Factor contestants are left in the show. The three finalists are Louisa Johnson, Chè Chesterman and Reggie ‘N’ Bollie. Louisa Johnson has been my favorite from day one!

Im absolutely impressed. Its awesome. She is only 17 years old and have a voice that easy can do a cover of Michael Jackson, James Bay or James Brown to name a few. Have a listen to Louisa Johnsons version of James Browns «This is a man`s world.»

This year`s first X-Factor live final will be broadcast from Wembley Arena on Saturday 12 December. One of them will be eliminated at the end of the show, and two of them goes to the final on Sunday.

Simon Cowell and the rest of the X-Factor team hasn`t revealed the new song for the winner this year, but it is rumoured to be a cover of Bob Dylan`s «Forever Young.» What Simon Cowell has revealed is that 100% of all profits from the new single will be donated to children`s charities Shooting Star Chase and Together for Short Lives.

There ain`t no doubt; Britain`s got talent! Lots of talent. Chè is good and Reggie ‘N’ Bollie is also a popular duo, but other big talents are wiped out. Lauren Murray is one of them. They are probably all very disappointed but they shouldn`t give up. All of them can be big superstars.

Former winner Leona Lewis will be one of the guest performers on the show. Not only that. Coldplay and One Direction are also confirmed to perform, so it`s all headed for a great show.

The first live finals will take place at Wembley Arena at 8pm Saturday 12 December.

On Sunday evening the two remaining finalists will battle it out for first place in a two-hour show at 8pm, 13 December.

Drone high-growth industry

FedEx, UPS and DHL to name a few are very silent when it comes to drones, while their coming competitors aren`t. I assume they all have busy days with packages from Amazon, but it will be a game changer when Amazon starts with their own drone business.

Not only Amazon are planning to deliver their packages with drones. Alphabet and Wal-Mart two other big companies that is planning to deliver packages via drones and that will happen sooner than we like to know.

FAA regulations are expected to open the up the market for commercial drone operations within 2017. The drone business will create more than 100 000 jobs in the next ten years and it is expected to see an $82 billion impact on the economy.

Other companies in the drone business is AeroVironment, GoPro, Boeing, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Intel, IXYS and Facebook to name a few.

AVAV

AeroVironment Inc is engaged in the design, develop, produce, support and operate a technological portfolio of products and services. It supplies unmanned aircraft systems, UAS tactical missile systems and related services within the US DoD.

They are well positioned in a high growth industry and the company will gain from the UAS market in the future. AeroVironment is one of the few companies in the promising small-scale UAS business, and the growing application of drone technology will give them a great opportunity.

Ambarella is nearly four times bigger than AeroVironment, but AeroVironment`s UAS technology is limited to defense and warefare. They benefited from the growth of technologies like predator drones and tactical missile systems, and their UAS technology can give them a great opportunity in the commercial sector.

Cost for consumer or commercial purposes is from $500 to $5,000, and some of the professional equipment could cost between $20,000 to $50,000.

Oil and gas companies can use the drones for inspections. So do mining companies for surveying and mapping. Hospitals and Insurance companies are other interested groups. German-based Spectair Group is heavily involved in the drone manufacturing business and they have three brands; Spectair Services, Flairics and Height-Tech.

GoPro has their own wearable cameras and the cost for their commercial drones is between $500 and $1000. In addition, we have Matternet, which is headquartered in Silicon Valley and Dajiang Innovation Technology, based in Shenzen, China.

The potential is huge.

Ambarella`s new business opportunity

I have been watching Ambarella for a while and the stock has gone straight up, but that`s until now. So far, 2015 has been a bad year for Ambarella, but despite the huge drop, the stock is still up for the year and even better than S&P 500.

The stock is down over 50% in a few months and the stock has so far been very speculative. The company has profited from GoPro`s success, but as you may know, GoPro has been losing market shares with weaker earnings and guidance for the future.

When GoPro missed its guidance for Q3 and told investors a forth-quarter to decline nearly 20% YoY, Ambarella’s shares was also declining. Investors are linking those two companies but that can be a mistake.

But GoPro is not the only customer in the market. The chipmaker has another big opportunity, which can be bigger than GoPro. The new big market is the drone industry, and if you saw my article about Amazon`s new drones, you know that this can be big business.

A green signal from the Federal Aviation Administration will open up a huge market for drones, and Ambarella’s high-end camera chips. The demand for drones with camera will not only increase in the defence industry (U.S Department of Defence) but also by ordinary consumers at Wal-Mart Stores and Amazon to name a few.

Amarella is well diversified and the drone industry is not the biggest income source for the company. Only 10% of their revenue comes from the drone industry, but that can change rapidly in the future.

In addition to their wearable-cameras space, Ambarella’s revenue comes from IP Security and automotive, but that can change in the future. Their biggest competitor in the drone market is probably Aero Vironment, but they are not diversified like Ambarella, while they are focusing just on one segment which is drones.

Market Cap is 1,92B and P/E 25,73 with earning per share; 2,34. Check out the new report on Thursday.

The stock is trading at $60 on Wednesday, which is down from record high of $129,19 in July. GoPros demand for drones in not what investors expected and many are bearish at the moment. The drone market hasnt started yet and Ambarella can be a good investment for long-term investors.
