Lyft is kicking off its IPO road show and expects to raise as much as $2,1 billion

A lot of unicorns are coming into the market and Lyft is the next to go public. It is an on-demand transportation company primarily providing ride-haling services like Uber. The company was launched in June 2012 and operates in approximately 300 U.S cities.

Lyft is kicking off its IPO road show this month and their goal is to get on the public market in April. The valuation is about $23 billion for Lyft and thats way beyond Ubers valuation of $150 billion. Lyft will be listed on Nasdaq under the ticker LYFT:

Lyft expects to raise as much as $2,1 billion through the sale of stock in a price range between $62 and $68. Not all of their shares will be sold to the public and they will hold less than half the votes among shareholders. So far, Lyft has collected about $5 billion in total private equity investment to date.

Revenue last year came in at $2,2 billion and their growth have skyrocketed by about 500 percent since 2016. Their losses are also skyrocketing while the loss last year reached $911,3 million. Lyft lose twice as much as their competitor Uber.

The venture capitalists have so far funded the company and now it is the publics turn. And Lyft need cash now. The companys cash and cash equivalents fell 53 percent to about $518 million during the course of 2018.

Lyft is like Uber disrupting the taxi industry but also the way people move around. The taxi industry as we know it today will change dramatically. Lyft and Uber`s business model will change the way people think about a vehicle and how they move around.

Not only that. We are not far away from self-driving cars, and that will be a huge game changer. And when that day comes, what will be the difference between Lyft and Uber? On top of that; they will face a lot of competition from established automakers.

You can imagine how it will be in the market if automakers like Tesla are joining the business by selling people rides to the people instead of selling them cars? What car do you prefer on your ride?

The system is rigged and The Idea of a meritocracy has turned out to be a “myth”

President Donald Trump was right; the system is rigged. Dozens of parents are spending in some cases between $200,000 and $6,5 million US to ensure their children could gain entry into some of America`s most competitive colleges.

More than 50 wealthy individuals were charged this week in purportedly the largest college admission scam ever in th U.S. The scam reveals the depths parents will allegedly go so their kids can have an upper hand and tout first-class higher education credentials.

Critics of the U.S college admissions system say it also exposes a rigged playing field for admissions and who gets left behind, according to Cbc.

The Justice Department said wealthy parents paid a consulting firm to falsify athletic credentials with Photoshopped pictures of their children playing competitive sports they never played.

They also paid for arrangements to have SAT test-takers pose as their children, fabricate medical conditions to allow their children extra time to take tests, and bribe administrators of college entrance exams to look the other way when it came to their children`s cheating.

The $25-million scheme «drives home the reality that the education system is stacked in favour of the rich. The Idea of a meritocracy has turned out to be a «myth,» with the SAT acting as a form of «affirmative action for rich white kids,» author Joseph Soares said.

I`m not shocked at all, The West have lost its greatness long time ago and this is just the tip of the iceberg. You can imagine how it is if your soccer team have low-skilled players. You will lose every battle. So is it for a country.

You will end up with bad politicians, weak business leaders and fake news. If the kids learn to cheat at the school it will be worse in real life. Nothing is worse than a rotten elite. Just take a look at the real life among the elite Trump is trying to fix now. Manaford is the latest but I guess it will be more.

Trump has done a lot of thing to make America great again and this is the latest case. Trump who is a business man. Not a politician. The same can be said about president Macron. He started his own political party in the middle because people in France was sick and tired of the establishment.

The establishment is France didnt even follow their own constitution. They probably didnt learn it at their elite school. How is it possible? Look at the situation with the Yellow Vest protesters in France. This has been going on not only for years but decades.

Meritocracy is an Academic discipline from Ancient Greek. Philosophers tried to build a system and a great democracy but look at it today. They are not following the rules.

Meritocracy is a political philosophy that holds that certain things, such as economic goods or power, should be vested in individuals on the basis of talent, effort, and achievement, rather than factors such as sexuality, race, gender, age, or wealth.

Advancement in such a system is based on performance, as measured through examination or demonstrated achievement. The Meritocracy is the society in which the gifted, the smart, the energetic, the ambitious and the ruthless are carefully sifted out and helped towards their destined position of dominance.

In the United States, the assassination of President James A. Garfield in 1881 prompted the replacement of the American Spoils System with a meritocracy. In 1883, the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act was passed, stipulating government jobs should be awarded on the basis of merit through competitive exams, rather than ties to politicians ar political affiliation.

The concept has existed for centuries but the term «meritocracy» is relatively new. The earliest example of an administrative meritocracy, based on civil service examinations, dates back to Ancient China.

The concept originates, at least by the sixth century BC, when it was advocated by the Chinese philosopher Confucius, who «invented the notion that those who govern should do so because of merit, not of inherited status.

Ass the Qin and Han dynasties developed a meritocratic system in order to maintain power over a large, sprawling empire, it became necessary for the government to maintain a complex network of officials.

Prospective officials could come from a rural background and government positions were not restricted to the nobility. Rank was determined by merit, through the civil service examinations, and education became the key for social mobility.

One of the oldest examples of a merit-based civil service system existed in the imperial bureaucracy of China. Tracing back to 200 B.C, the Han Dynasty adopted Confucianism as the basis of its political philosophy and structure, which included the revolutionary idea of replacing nobility of blood with one virtue and honesty, and thereby calling for administrative appointments to be based solely on merits.

This system allowed anyone who passed an examination to become a government officer, a position that would bring wealth and honor to the whole family. In part due to Chinese influence, the first European civil service did not originate in Europe, but rather in India by the British-run East India Company.

Company managers hired and promoted employees based on competitive examinations in order to prevent corruption and favoritism.

Both Plato and Aristotle advocated meritocracy. Plato in his «The Republic,» arguing that the wisest should rule, and hence the rulers should be philosopher kings.

Covington teen Nick Sandman will sue CNN and WAPO for more than $250 million this week

Covington teen Nick Sandman`s lawyer will sue Washington Post and CNN for more $250 million. The video was a Native American activist met Sandman with a MAGA hat went viral on social media. So did it in Mainstream Media (MSM).

Some people said in social media that they wanted to kill Sandman, and MSM wrongly reported that Sandman was a racist. The fact is that Sandman didnt do anything wrong. On top of that; MSM didnt say sorry. They were silent about their failure. What a shame.

Fox News is the number one channel because people trust them. CNN are ranked number 7 and their popularity is declining. But the distrust of MSM is not something new. Lies and deceit has been going on for hundreds of years.

“The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers,” Thomas Jefferson said more than 200 years ago. He was the third president of the United States from 1801 to 1809.

Fortunately, things are about to change, and that is thanks to internet and social media which is making it more transparent. It`s difficult for the MSM to make any twists in the internet era and they have also become a unnecessary third part as for example the U.S President can have direct contact with his followers on Twitter.

Medias monopol is declining and some blogs are now more mainstream than others. It is also alarming when the majority of the people is searching at the alternative media. MSM should therefore learn from its mistakes, but they dont. This is why the lawsuit is a good thing.

Sandman had a MAGA hat on and as you may know, the owner of WAPO is Jeff Bezos, and he doesn`t like the president. But CNN was more vicious than WAPO and their evil behaviour says a lot of whats going on between their ears.

MSM`s rush to judgment is disgraceful.

Bugatti has always been defined by the spirit of its founder, Ettore Bugatti. He started the incomparable journey of the Bugatti brand in 1909 in Molsheim. Bugatti has a long history full of passion, craftsmanship, dynamics and elegance.

Alsace is their home, and they can proudly claim to be the only French Luxury automotive brand. Anniversary celebrations are not only a celebration of past achievements. They also mark the beginning of a new chapter.

The engine in powered by the same 1103kW 16-cylinder quad turbocharger engine from the Bugatti Chiron, enough to propel the vehicle to more than 400km/h. Despite the lightweight thinking, it`s claimed an average of 22,5 litres per 100km, which is about twice as much as a V8.

Six tailpipes at the rear bear witness to its incredible power and are also a tribute to the 16 cylinders.

This car is sold to a Bugatti enthusiast and it is the most expensive new car of all time. «La Voiture Noire» is an unprecedented and unique car that continues a long tradition in the history of the automobile.

Xi Jinping has been elevated to the same level as Mao Zedong

The largest political event of the year in China is «two sessions.» The National Peoples Congress (NPC) is the national legislature of the Peoples Republic of China. The party have 2,980 members (2018) and it is the largest parliamentary body in the world.

As the NPC and the Peoples Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) are the main deliberative bodies of China, they are often referred to as the Lianghui (two sessions). Its annual meetings provide an opportunity for the officers of state to review past policies and to present future plans to the nation.

In theory, the NPC is the highest organ of state power in China, and all four PRC constitutions have vested it with great lawmaking powers. In practice, however, it usually acts a rubber stamp for decisions already made by the state`s executive organs and the Communist Party of China.

One of its members, Hu Xiaoyan, told BBC in 2009 that she has no power to help he constituents. She was quoted as saying; «As a parliamentary representative, I don`t have any real power.» But the Chinese leader Xi Jinping have.

The parliament is expected to rubberstamp major constitutional changes that will elevate the power of President Xi Jinping which means Xi Jinping has been elevated to the same level as Mao Zedong.

It will also confirm dropping China`s two-term presidential limit which means Xi could stay in power for life, leading China according to his new ideological guidelines, known as «Xi Jinping Thought».

Lianghui last between one or two weeks and this year the CPPCC started on 3 March and the NPC started on 5 March. The Chinese premier Li Kequang said that people in China must be fully prepared for a tough struggle. He warned that there will be greater risks ahead for China.

«Two sessions» comes amid tariff tensions with the U.S which is Chinas largest trading partner. As you may know, the U.S have placed huge pressure on Chinas economy and financial markets. Therefore, Li said that the growth target for 2019 will be 6,0 to 6,5 percent.

This years growth is in line with economists’ expectations. Last year, the Chinese economy grew at its slowest pace since 1990, expanding by 6,6 percent in 2018.

Last year, President Trump announced additional tariffs on $250 billion worth of goods from China and Li warned that the trade war with the U.S has so far had a negative impact on business activities in China.

But the tariff battle could soon ease while the two largest economies in the world are in the final stages of the trade deal that could end this month. Li reiterated Beijing`s commitment to «safeguarding economic glabalization» and pledged to promote China-U.S trade negotiations while advancing negotiations on other trade agreements.

Retail sales in China have slumped and as a result of that they are doing what President Trump did; they will cut the taxes and boost the growth.

Li told the NPC that China would aim to deliver nearly 2 trillion yuan ($4298bn) of cuts in taxes and other company fees. It plans to boost spending and increase foreign firms’ access to its markets.

China will also increase its military budget by 7,5 percent to 1,2 trillion yuan. The country`s defence spending is closely watched for any signals as to its military intentions.

A slower growth in China is not good news for the West. A slower growth in China means that they will buy less from the West while it accounts for one-third of the global growth.

But take official growth figures from China with a pinch of salt. For all I know, I could be as low as 5 percent, but tax cuts could push the growth up again. In the longer run, the growth will continue to decline.

The richer China get, the slower the growth will be.
