The Democratic world is backsliding, and people around the world are losing their freedom

People around the world are losing their freedom, and democracy is in decline all over the world for the 16th year in a row, according to a new report by Freedom House. The number of people living in societies that are considered free has declined by 25,7% as political freedoms have eroded.

Bad countries are getting worse, but over the last few years, we`ve also seen democracies getting worse, Amy Slipowitz, who is one of the authors of the report said.

Factors such as undermining the rule of law, attacking media freedom, perverting elections, and discrimination and mistreatment of migrants were internal issues impacting the functionality of existing democracies, the report found.

The US received a score of 2 out of 4 in the category of equal treatment of minority groups in light of its recent policies on asylum seekers. Only 25 countries improved in their freedom scores overall, and some of the most significant increases occurred in Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, Ecuador, and Honduras.

The decline is not reversing, but there are still signs that this can be reversed because «there are so many places where people are risking their lives to demand freedom.» The protests in Myanmar and Sudan are examples of how people fight for democracy to persist.

«I think despite these crackdowns and pushback, there is still a very strong demand for democracy,» Slipowitz says. «I do expect that it`ll continue because ultimately, people do have a desire to live freely. So I think the key will be how democracy`s proponents can support these people, and global collaboration is really key to this.»

The difference between communist China and the United States is that the United States is one nation under God. The communists in China don`t believe in religion and God, so people in China believe in communists.

«If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under,» Ronald Reagan once said. He also said that America is the moral force that defeated communism and all those who would put the human soul itself into bondage.

What would Ronald Reagan say today, as the Democratic world is backsliding, also known as autocratization, democratic decay, and de-democratization, which means a gradual decline in the quality of democracy and the opposite of democratization?

If unchecked, democratic backsliding results in the state losing its democratic qualities, becoming an autocracy or authoritarian regime. The democratic decline is caused by the state-led weakening of political institutions that sustain the democratic system, such as the peaceful transition of power or free and fair elections.

Although these political elements are assumed to lead to the onset of backsliding, other essential components of democracy such as infringements of individual rights, especially freedom of expression, question the health, efficiency, and sustainability of democratic systems over time.

Since 2001, there are more autocracies than democracies in the world, and as a result, the «third wave of autocratization» is accelerating and deepening. In addition, apart from the transition to autocratization, democratic backsliding may also lead to authoritarian regressions, revolutions, to hybrid regimes as they enter political «grey zones.»

During a national crisis, there are unique risks of democratic backsliding. It can occur when leaders impose autocratic rules during states of emergency that are either disproportionate to the severity of the crisis or remain in place after the situation has improved.

Democratic backsliding occurs when essential components of democracy are threatened, and examples of democratic backsliding include;

  • Free and fair elections are degraded;
  • Liberal rights of freedom of speech, press and association decline, impairing the ability of the political opposition to challenge the government, hold it to account, and propose alternatives to the current regime;
  • The rule of law (i.e., judicial and bureaucratic restraints on the government) is weakened, such as when the independence of the judiciary is threatened, or when civil service tenure protections are weakened or eliminated.
  • An over-emphasis on national security as response to acts of terrorism or perceived antogonists.

Democratic backsliding can occur in several common ways, and you can see it in many places on this planet even today. Backsliding is often led by democratically elected leaders, who use «incremental rather than revolutionary» tactics.

It is difficult to pinpoint a single specific moment at which a government is no longer democratic, given that this process of decline manifests «slowly, in barely visible steps». Ozan Varol uses the phrase stealth authoritarianism to describe the practice of an authoritarian leader (or a potential authoritarian leader) using «seemingly legitimate legal mechanisms for anti-democratic ends….. concealing anti-democratic practices under the mask of law.

Together with Juan Linz, Levitsky and Ziblatt developed and agreed upon their «litmus test», which includes what they believe to be the four key indicators of authoritarian behavior. These four factors are; rejection (or weak comment to) democratic rules of the game, denial of the legitimacy of political opponents, toleration or encouragement of violence, and readiness to curtail civil liberties of opponents, including media.

Varol describes the manipulation of libel laws, electoral laws, or «terrorism» laws as tools to target or discredit political opponents, and the employment of democratic rhetoric as a distraction from anti-democratic practices, as manifestations of stealth authoritarianism.

We can also see strategic harassment and manipulation during elections, and this form of democratic backsliding entails the impairment of free and fair elections through tactics such as blocking media access, disqualifying opposition leaders, or harassing opponents.

This form of backsliding is done in such a way that the elections do not appear to be rigged and rarely involve any apparent violations of the law, making it difficult for international election monitoring organizations to observe or criticize this misconduct.

For example, Hitler gave a speech to the Reichstag in support of the Enabling Act. The decline of the Weimar Republic into Nazi Germany is one of the most infamous examples of democratic backsliding.

(The enabling Act of 1933, was a law that gave the German Cabinet, most importantly, the Chancellor, the power to make and enforce laws without the involvement of the Reichstag or Weimar President Paul von Hindenburg.)

Hitler persuaded Hindenburg to enact the Reichstag Fire Decree. The decree abolished most civil liberties including the right to speak, assemble, protest, and due process. Using the decree the Nazis declared a state of emergency and began to arrest, intimidate, and purge their political enemies.

By clearing the political arena of anyone willing to challenge him Hitler submitted a proposal to the Reichstag that would immediately grant all legislative powers to the cabinet. This would in effect allow Hitler`s government to act without concern for the constitution.

The world we live in today is very similar to the 30s, and the most important and serious issue is inequality. Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson have investigated the effect of income inequality on the democratic breakdown.

Studies of democratic collapse show that economic inequality is significantly higher in countries that eventually move towards a more authoritarian model.

In addition, political polarization, racism and nativism, and excessive executive power have alone or in combination provided the conditions for democratic backsliding.

The 2019 Annual Democracy Report of the V-dem Institute at the University of Gothenburg identified three challenges confronting global democracy:

  1. «Government manipulation of media, civil society, rule of law, and elections»,
  2. rising «toxic polarization», including «the division of society into distrustful, antagonistic camps», diminishing «respect for opponents, factual reasoning, and engagement with society» among political elites, and increasing use of hate speech by political leaders, and
  3. foreign disinformation campaigns, primarily digital.

Some countries move toward democracy, while other countries move away from democracy. Just take a look at the West and you will see it on the way to being a wild wild west. Man people are claiming that the United States is the last hope. Ronald Reagan said, «if we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth».

«Democracy is worth dying for because it`s the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man».

On August 23, 1984, Ronald Reagan said; «Without God, there is no virtue, because there`s no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we`re mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what the senses perceive. Without God, there is a coarsening of society. And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we`re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under».

But the separation of church and state was never intended to separate public morality from public policy.

Communism vs Capitalism

Tons of Democrats wants to beat president Donald Trump and be the next president of the United States. The Democrats had the first debate and president Trump calls the first Democratic presidential primary debate «Boring.» And he is not alone.

Ocasio-Cotez says debate reminded her of high school class where some students didnt do their homevork. The Democrats are in real trouble when AOC mocks them all saying «not doing your homework.» Maybe the Russians have hacked NBCs audio feed during the debate, but they acted all like a Comedy Central.

Trump said in an interview thirty years ago that he was tierd of seeing the country being ripped off. It seems like someone have tried to destroy the U.S, but Trump is making it great again. The debate is about two things; Socialism/Communism and Capitalism.

If you ask some capitalists, they will say the debate was scary where the candidates on the stage lurch further towards socialism. A total reworking of the U.S democracy. They were demonizing capitalism. They were demonizing job creators. People on the left side is now too extreme for many.

There is no doubt that capitalism is working. Just look at Cuba or Venezuela. Two extreme socialist/communist countries with one big problem; there is no growth. The debate made Trump a winner because the growth have never been better in the U.S. In other words; Trump`s economy is his strongest card right now.

There are people from Cuba and Venezuela living in the U.S right now and they are very frightened because they know how it is to live in a socialist/communist country. They can see similarities; they promise free stuff for everybody, but they all know that in the end it will be a government takeover, and then it becomes oppression. In other words;

DON`T FEED THE BEAST!

I have written about communist-China for years and what we see in Hong Kong is the same. They demonstrate against the one rule communist party in Beijing. They still want a «one country, two systems» model. They want to be independent and govern themselves.

Former prime minister Margaret Thatcher said in the 80`s in a meeting with communist leader Deng Xiaoping that Hong Kong must be able to retain its way of life, legal system, their economic system, freedom of speech, freedom of press and freedom of association. Freedom of religious worship.

These are fundamental freedoms, Thatcher said.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo wanted democracy and freedom but the communist-party in China put him in jail for that. The one-rule communist-party doesn`t care about human rights. Nor do the Godless communists care about christians. Or muslims.

The totalitarian and authoritarian one-rule communist party in Beijing hav built a network of internment camps in Xinjiang where hundreds of thousands of ethnic Uighurs are beleved to have been detained.

Uighur journaist and activist Gulchehra Hoja have warned about the consentration camps in Xinjiang which is similar to Holocoust and crazy things that happened thousands of years ago. It`s all about communist propaganda.

In the camps, they get up at 5 am. They do a lot of learning. They start the day by singing songs for two hours a day. Sometimes three or four hours. The text goes like this: «Without the Communist party, there will be no new China.»

the prisoners watch movies that praise Xi Jinping and also the Communist Party. They would also tell them about religion, saying: «There is no such a thing as religion. Why do you beliee in religion? There is no God. Do you have a Coran at home?»

You will lose your freedom if you feed the beast too much. The government will blow up and be an arrogant intellectual idiot. 30 years ago, the one-rule communist party in China killed its own citizens who wanted democracy and freedom. Communists do not care about the rule of law. There is only one side; their side.

China is a totalitarian and authoritarian police state. They control the people by fear and silencing them all. If you say something about the president, they will put you in jail. If you say something about democracy, they will put you in jail. You have no freedom of speech.

So can be said about Turkey and Erdogan. A Nationalist state which is totalitarian and authoritarian. Erdogan controls the police, military and media. Plenty of journalists in Turekey are put in prison. The economy is a disaster and people in Turkey want a change.

The government is your servant, not your master!

You have lost your freedom if your government treat you like a doormat. This is the point were the government have become a beast. Your enemy. A system against you which is totally wrong and insane because you are paying their wages; tax money.

Some countries in the West have China as a role model and you are hereby warned. The battle is between communists and capitalists. So who are the Americans gonna vote for? So far, I think president Trump is the big winner and the radical socialists are in trouble.

4th of July is approaching and it`s a rally for FREEDOM!

What kind of society are you living in?

Are you living in an authoritarian and totalitarian society like communist China? Or are you living in a dictatorship like North Korea? Or maybe you are living in a free society? Just look at your own society and you will find out what society you live in.

A.E. Samaan is the author of the book From a “Race of Masters” to a “Master Race,” and he said that tyrants are obvious, and easy to identify. It is the well entrenched and corrupt establishment that is truly insidious.”

“All Socialism is Democratic Socialism. Socialist nations take away civil liberties by referendum. Socialism is submission of the masochistic masses to the will of the sadistic elites.”

“Capitalism is not a form of government. Capitalism is a symptom of freedom. It is the result of individual rights, which include property rights.”

The Deep State and the International Elite wanted the Russia collusion to be true but it was a big hoax

The establishment and some people at the top of the FBI did everything they could to stop Donald Trump from being the next president in the U.S. What they did is a big crime and there will be a reckoning some time in the near future.

We all saw the criminal collusion between the DNC (the Democratic Committee), the Deep State and the International elite that wanted all this crap about the Russia Hoax to be true. It wasn`t. The Main stream Media lied to you, but «the destroy Trump Media» failed.

The majority of the voters wanted Trump who was a gigantic threats to the establishment because they didnt have control over him. They didnt like his success, so they said he won because Putin and Russia helped him. Unfortunately, the Mueller report concluded that there is no collusion, which means Trump won because people wanted him. But there is something going on here.

Tucker is talking about a city that has become paranoid, distrustful and angry. He spoke to people who said they cant text him this and that. They say they cant have conversations with Tucker because they are too nervous. They are afraid.

Tucker are wondering what country he lives in? And who want`s to live in a country where people are nervous and afraid?

The #1 New York Times best-selling author and creator of the second highest grossing political documentary film of all time, Dinesh DSouza talks about it in his latest film «Death of a Nation». Its all about Gleichschaltung.

Death of a Nation reveals the Left`s dark past and proves once and for all that fascism and racism come not from Trump, but from the Democrats. He said, Lincoln saved America from the Democrats for the first time. Can Trump, and the people, come together and save America for the second time?

Fascism and racism is not only an issue in the U.S. To understand it, we have to look at how the West is built. «The System» are successful if people are silent, but if they speak up like Fox News and alternative media, they have big trouble.

Look at the history. Hitler and the Nazi Party had tremendous success with this strategy; Gleichschaltung, or in English co-ordination. Hitler and the Nazi Party established a system of totalitarian control and coordination over all aspects of German society, «from the economy and trade associations to the media, culture and education».

Historians Robert Michael and Karin Doerr define Gleichschaltung as: «Consolidation. All the German Volk`s social, political, and cultural organizations to be controlled and run according to Nazi ideology and policy. All opposition to be eliminated.

In 1933, President of Germany Paul von Hindenburg, acting at Hitler`s request and on the basis of the emergency powers in article 48 of the Weimar Constitution, issued the Reichstag Fire Decree. This decree suspended most citizen rights provided for by the constitution and thus allowed for the arrest of political adversaries, mostly Communists, and for terrorizing of another electors by the Sturmabteilung (SA) (Nazi paramilitary branch) before the upcoming election.

One of the most important setups towards Gleichschaltung of German society was the introduction of the «Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda» under Joseph Goebbels in March 1933 and the subsequent steps taken by the Propaganda Ministry to assume full control of the press and all means of social communication.

This included oversight of newspapers, magazines, films, books, public meetings and ceremonies, foreign press relations, theater, art and music, radio, and television. To this end, Goebbels said:

“The secret of propaganda is to permeate the person it aims to grasp, without his even noticing that he is being permeated. Of course propaganda has a purpose, but the purpose must be concealed with such cleverness and virtuosity that the person on whom this purpose is to be carried out doesn`t notice it at all.”

This was also the purpose of «co-ordination, to ensure that every aspect of the lives of German citizens was permeated with the ideas and prejudices of the Nazis. From March to July 1933 and continuing afterwards, the Nazi Party systematically eliminated or co-opted non-Nazi organizations that could potentially influence people. Those critical of Hitler and the Nazis were suppressed, intimidated or murdered.

Every national voluntary association, and every local club, was brought under Nazi control, from industrial and agricultural pressure groups to sports associations, football clubs, male voice choirs, women`s organizations, the whole fabric of associational life was Nazified.

Rival politically oriented clubs or societies were merged into a single Nazi body. Existing leaders of voluntary associations were either unceremoniously ousted, or knuckled under of their own accord. Many organizations expelled leftist or liberal members and declared their allegiance to the new state and its institutions.

The whole process went on all over Germany. By the end, virtually the only non-Nazi associations left were the army and the Churches with their lay organizations.

When the blatant emphasis of racial hatred of others seemed to reach an impasse in the school system, through radio broadcasts, or on film reels, the overseers of Nazi Gleichschaltung propaganda switched to strategies that focused more on togetherness and the «we-consciousness» of the collective Volk, but the mandates of Nazi «coordination» remained pay homage to the Fuhrer, expel all foreigners, sacrifice for the German people, and welcome future challenges.

While greater German social and economic unity was produced through the Gleichschaltung initiatives of the regime, it was at the expense of individuality and the social detriment of any nonconformist; and worse; it contributed to and reinforced the social and racial exclusion of anyone deemed an enemy by National Socialist doctrine.

Control of the printed word is not something new. Thomas Jefferson talked about it over 200 years ago. «The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.» But, there is a game changer; Internet.

It seems like an era of deceit is coming to an end. Internet access, social media and freedom of speech makes it difficult to control peoples minds. Lies and fake news is still out there but it doesnt work the same way as it did.

You know what society you live in if people are silent. You are living in a bad society, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing. All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent. Fox News is one of the few in the West who are doing what establishment press and journalists actually should do.

Fox News has become the most popular TV channel which is about four times more popular than fake news CNN that is slowly dying.
